I’ve been toying with the notion of writing YA—that’s why I’m reading books like I, Coriander—so I’m really glad I ran across the following announcement for a chat meeting at the Institute for Children’s Literature, and I thought I’d share it. (After you get to the ICL website, click on “Scheduled Events.”)

Coming soon: a review of The Secret Life of Bees… stay tuned!

February 16, 2006: “Writing for Teen Girls?
with Laura Barnholdt

At the next Guest Chat in our ICL Chat room, February 16, we will be chatting with Lauren Barnholdt, Young Adult chicklit author with a love of the scandalous. Lauren will be sharing with us about the exciting world of young adult novels. Together with her agent, Nadia Cormier, Lauren is writing a fantastic book on the subject of writing for young adults. So, we’ll be getting a peek at Lauren’s teaching style as she helps us become better young adult writers.
